Beschreibung:
WORK: This year the park aims to add several new features and the work of the volunteers will be key to this happening. The volunteers will principally be involved in the creation of a new set of ponds / lagoons that will be installed. The work will vary and may at times be quiet hard and physical. Volunteers should be prepared to work outside in bad weather and as such must bring proper water proof clothes and working boots. ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be staying very close to Dean Castle Country Park, the area in which they will be working, located on the edge of Kilmarnock. The Country Park, covering over 200 acres, boasts beautiful woodland walks, adventure playground, pets corner, visitor centre, tearoom, shop and a fantastic 14th century castle housing world class collections including historic weapons, armour and musical instruments. The volunteers will be staying in a local community hall, showers are located at a local football changing rooms and will only be available once each day, generally after the work has been completed. Address: c/o Dean Castle Country Park Dean Road Kilmarnock, Ayrshire KA3 1XB Volunteers will be cooking for themselves as a group. Volunteers need to bring with them a sleeping bag and mat. FREE TIME: The Ranger service at the park really enjoys hosting international volunteers and last year put on some great activities for the volunteers in their free time. As well as as being able to enjoy all of the activities that are available in the park we will try and arrange some extra cultural activities. Volunteers should be aware that it is possible for them to travel to Glasgow or to the centre of Kilmarnock at the weekends, but that they will be expected to meet the small travel costs of these themselves. LOCATION: Kilmarnock is a town 45 minutes South-West of Glasgow. There are regular trains (at least 1 per hour) from Glasgow Central Station to Kilmarnock.
Notes:
