Work: Home visits Location: Taita district in Coast provinceLOCATION OF THE WORK CAMP.Sengeri Women and Youth Group is located on the foots of Sagalla hills approximately 15 km from the Nairobi-Mombasa highway after Voi town,in Taita District,Talio village bordering Tsavo National Park. Its is approximately 316 kms from Nairobi to Voi town.Sengeri Women and Youth Group is in the hearts of Taita sometimes referred to us semi-arid zone. The Location of the Project is within the precints of a nearby school known as Gideon Mosi Primary School. Partner: Kenya Voluntary Development Association (KVDA) has the pleasure to forward this detailed information sheet as a confirmation that the preparations for KVDA/STV/04/A April 2010 Sengeri Women and Youth Cultural Group International voluntary service project are complete.As you are aware, KVDA has since 1962 been an active partner in community development and has afforded the youth from Africa, Asia, Europe and USA opportunities to serve other society members by investing their time, skills, knowledge and money to render voluntary services in the most remote and usually inaccessible parts of Kenya where poverty levels are high.We hope that through your support and that of other like-minded development organizations, we can mobilize human material resources to enhance active participation of those recipients to development policies to significantly address the problems that hinder human and environmental friendly development approaches so that we sustain our collective efforts to eradicate poverty.KVDA calls upon all our partners to reflect upon their contributions in this worthy sector and harmonize our visions to make a tangible impact.Kindly convey the message to all volunteers and reiterate our commitment to assist them while in Kenya to the best of our abilities and as always, do welcome constructive critics from the volunteers that we can re-evaluate ourselves and play our rightful role in society.We look forward to prompt responses from the respective volunteers to enable us to plan for the activities and kindly respect the stated deadlines for confirmations for conventional purposes.PROJECT INFO-SHEET.This is a confirmation of your participation in the above mention Project organised in a work camp environment that will run from 10th -30th April 2010.KVDA welcomes you to Kenya, the Kenyan way with swahili greetings, Jambo Na Karibu Kenya !ORIENTATION : 9th April 2010Orientation for all the volunteers will be done on the 9th April 2010 from 9 am at the KVDA Residence in Kilimani-Nairobi and all the volunteers must attend in order to initiate the much-needed teamwork. It will entail, introduction, team building and group formation, visit to residential estates for both privileged (the elite) and the under-privileged (slum dwellers) to grasp and understand poverty levels in global south, psychological preparation and set out possible interventions. KVDA will be responsible for meals and accommodation for volunteers during the one-day orientation sessions. Accomodation and food: Most of the foodstuffs are Kenyan and it will be provided by KVDA.
