Work: Environmental work like landscaping, some maintenance work like painting and cleaning buildings. The volunteers will also take part in some social activities with the locals for example assisting elderly people and families. The camp wants to promote intercultural understanding and involve local youth and other people in the village activities and encourage local villages to develop further their services and activities. There will also be other program such as excursions to local nature and cultural sights, swimming in the lakes etc. Volunteers can experience Finnish local culture, tradition, people and peaceful nature. Location: The two villages belong to Kauhajoki (www.kauhajoki.fi). The area is beautiful with small lakes and nature. Requirements: Nearest terminal: Kauhajoki. The nearest railway station is in Seinajoki, it takes about 4 hours from Helsinki by train (380 km). From Seinajoki volunteers must take a bus to Kauhajoki (53 km).Special remarks: The volunteers will have to be able to ride bicycle because it is the main means of transportation. The volunteers will have to have a travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Accomodation and food: The camp is going to be in two villages and accommodation will be in a house for the first week and in parish camp centre for the second week. The volunteers will prepare some meals themselves, lunches are usually provided in work places.
