International volunteering: Subir al Sur organizes Workcamps, Mid and Long term volunteering opportunities and Intercultural meetings in Argentina, in association with our local partners, and sends Argentine volunteers to the rest of the world through our international partners making part of www.unesco.org/ccivs and www.alliance-network.org.

National and regional volunteering. Subir al Sur promotes the participation of Argentine young people (especially those with fewer opportunities) during our programs, and organizes volunteer projects to promote integration with solidarity and respect.

The ON Arrival training is obligatory we will not accept volunteers who do not arrive for the above dates*

** The volunteers need to cover their accommodation and food costs during the on arrival training, the training starts at 10h30. The place of the on arrival training is To be Confirmed in the Capital City of Buenos Aires. The volunteers need to arrive into Buenos Aires, Ezeiza airport.

** ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE. Subir al Sur and its local partners are NOT responsible for any volunteers who do not have any insurance cover.

ADMIN COSTS AND WHAT WE DO

The volunteers arriving pay a one off fee for administration costs depending on the amount of time they will stay, which is payable to Subir al Sur in the on arrival training, this covers our internet, telephone, coordination costs, and costs for the on arrival training. In addition to this, the amount is used in case of any problems which may arise in the local project so that we may travel and mediate the situation. MTV/LTV is our principal source of financing.

Volunteers should be aware that organizations in “south” countries do not receive funds from the government and are heavily dependant on the volunteer's contributions. Subir al Sur coordinates actions in Argentina and the volunteers go to participate in our partner's projects.

The volunteers also pay monthly to our partners for accommodation and food, any money left over is used by the partners for administration costs and to develop their activities.

Subir al Sur develops the local programs together with our partners and shares this information on an international level, we then do all necessary follow up with the international and local, including the writing of the info sheet. We prepare the volunteers in full day on arrival trainings and then the volunteers travel to their local projects, we then follow up on the volunteers in their local projects through our partners and with the volunteers. During the project we request the volunteers to send us a series of written evaluations. If any problems may arise during the project we speak first by telephone and if necessary we travel to the project (this may be a twelve hour journey) in order to evaluate the problem and to mediate in case of conflict.

The volunteer’s evaluations are studied at the end of the year by a psychologist and the data is used in order to create a detailed overview of the impact of our volunteering programs.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROJECTS

Due to the fact Subir al Sur works together with young people in organised youth groups and with children we request the following from the volunteers and their sending organisations at the time of application:

ü A letter from the sending organisation confirming that there has been personal contact with the volunteer and that they will/or have participated in some form of Pre Departure Training and that the volunteer is motivated and prepared to work with young people in underprivileged areas.

Fees: Travel (internal and external) costs and costs related to the on arrival training (room and food) of the volunteer are at the volunteers charge.

The volunteer will make a one off payment to Subir al Sur in argentine pesos on arrival depending on the volunteer’s time of stay 1 month - 450 pesos, 2-3 months 650 pesos, and 4-12 months 950 pesos. This money covers administration costs of Subir al Sur during the volunteers stay.

In addition the volunteer will pay 700 pesos per month for the duration of the project to the local hosting organization, Eco Clubes Clorinda. This money will cover the volunteers housing and any admin costs for Eco Clubes. The volunteers can eat in a local school Monday-Friday lunchtimes, at all other times food costs are at the volunteers charge.

NOTE to partners:

The on arrival trainings as noted above are obligatory. The costs for the stay in Buenos Aires will need to be covered by the volunteer. Please be clear with the volunteers about what they have to pay, when and why. After this they will travel to their project in the North of Argentina (approx 18hours bus).

Ecoclubes Clorinda

WHO ARE WE? Ecoclubes is a civil society association, democratic, constituted for children and young people, which undertake actions with other institutions to improve the quality of life of their town.

WHERE ARE WE? Ecoclubes is present in 30 countries in America, Europe and Africa: Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Morocco, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA, and Venezuela.

In the month of July 2006 we are 15000 young volunteers integrated into this movement.

HOW DO WE WORK? We define the local problems, We capacitate and inform ourselves through the help of specialists, community references etc…, we search for alliances with other institutions, local government, companies etc…., We promote a exchange of conduct within the community with innovative strategies, We diffuse our propositions and the results, we measure the impact caused by our actions.

Description of the volunteers’ tasks and the needs of the association:

The volunteer must be ready to work in an independent manner, with children and young people with social problems (Special abilities etc) who live in low income areas. We would like to have someone who has the capacity to approach young people, to exchange, share, communicate and pass time with them. The most part of the activities will be developed in a school, which functions as the Eco Clubes base, the school is called Escuela Nº454 Dominga Ayala de Duarte, Other activities will take place in the multiple use room San Miguel Arcangel, el Barrio Toba, Barrio Guadalupe and Integrame (an association in Clorinda which works with children and adults with special needs).

The volunteers will also work on the diverse actions and projects which Eco Clubes develop. The activities can be ecological, artistic, school support, recreation, or all of these. It would be great if the volunteer has the capacity to share their knowledge of how to play an instrument, to teach languages or art. The volunteers will be in charge of filming and photographing the different activities so it would be much appreciated if they have a digital camera. In case of not having a camera, the association has a video camera that the volunteer's may use.

Some of the activities:

p In the Escuela Nº454 there are 15 computers, with access to Internet, the volunteers will have the chance to give computing lessons to the children.

p Eco Clubes now have a radio program- one full day during the week the volunteers are requested to participate in this program, working together with the local volunteers on content, and the technical side of the program,- Eco Clubes will teach the volunteers how to undertake this activity.

p In the Barrio 29 de Septiembre, the NGO San Miguel Arcangel let Eco Clubes use their zoom where children from 2 to 14 yrs go to play, eat and meet. The volunteers would have the possibility to work there at least once a week during 1h30 to organize the same kind of activities as above and everything that seems relevant to the volunteers.

p During the summer holidays (from January to March), the volunteers would have the opportunity to organize a “summer camp” one to five times a week.

p Eco Clubes have guitars which can be used to give lessons, and which can also be used in our cultural and artistic project called Expresarte (www.proyecto-expresarte.blogspot.com [1]) which consists in teaching for free, music, guitar, aboriginal language choir, theatre, folkloric dance, a games room, ping pong tables, rhythmic dances etc…

p The volunteers can give language lessons or share any other ability with the children

p The Toba neighbourhood is where the native people from this tradition live. Here the volunteers will work with children in different games working on solidarity, teamwork and cooperation. Many of the Toba children live in poverty. ECOCLUB is the only institution which works with the children and adolescents in this neighbourhood.

p The Volunteer will work on workshops in schools on the themes of Dengue, rubbish and the environment. The volunteer will also help out with planting trees in communal spaces. Puppet shows are used as a pedagogical tool to teach young people on the above themes.

p In addition to this, once to several times a month, ECOCLUB organize “cine el el barrio”.

Practical information:

Food:

Volunteers are responsible for buying and preparing their own food. At lunch times during the week the volunteers are provided with food in the school where they work.

Accommodation:

The volunteer will live in an independent apartment, with up to three other volunteers, or in an apartment with an independent bathroom with up to one other volunteer. The volunteers have the use of bicycles to move around Clorinda and are in charge of keeping the bikes in a good condition.

Nota a los socios:

El On Arrival training es obligatoria. Los costos de la estadía deberán ser pagados por el voluntario. Por favor comunican a los voluntarios cuando, porque y para que pagan los gastos de inscripción a SAS, y por mes a los socios locales Luego de esto, viajarán a su proyecto en el Norte del provincia de Formosa (18 horas en colectivo de Buenos Aires).

Ecoclubes Clorinda ¿QUIENES SOMOS?

Ecoclubes es una asociación civil, democrática, compuesta de niños y jóvenes, los cuales emprenden acciones con otras instituciones para mejorar la calidad de vida en su ciudad.

¿DONDE ESTAMOS? Ecoclubes existe en 30 países de América, Europa y África: Alemania, Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, República Dominicana, Ecuador, El Salvador, España, Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Haití, Honduras, Marruecos, Méjico, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, Polonia, Portugal, Ucrania, Uruguay, EEUU y Venezuela.

En el año 2010 somos 10000 jóvenes voluntarios involucrados en este movimiento.

¿COMO TRABAJAMOS? Definimos problemas locales. Nos capacitamos y nos informamos a través de la ayuda de especialistas, referencias de la comunidad, etc. Buscamos alianzas con otras instituciones, gobiernos locales, empresas, etc. Promovemos un cambio de comportamiento dentro de la comunidad gracias a estrategias innovadoras, difundimos nuestras propuestas y sus resultados, medimos el impacto de nuestras acciones.

Descripción del trabajo del voluntario y de las necesidades de la asociación:

El voluntario tiene que estar dispuesto a trabajar de una manera independiente y con niños y jóvenes con problemas sociales que viven en barrios carenciados (con necesidades básicas insatisfechas, discapacidades físicas). Nos gustaría tener a alguien que posee la capacidad de acercarse a niños, adolescentes y jóvenes, intercambiar, compartir, comunicar y pasar tiempo con ellos. Las actividades se desarrollaran en una Escuela, la cual funciona como sede del ECOCLUB, la misma se denomina Escuela Nº454 Dominga Ayala de Duarte, y en otros lugares como el centro de usos múltiples San Miguel Arcangel, el Barrio Toba, Barrio Guadalupe, y en Integrarme, una asociación en Clorinda que trabaja con niños y adultos con necesidades especiales. Los voluntarios tendrán para trabajar diversas acciones y proyectos que llevamos adelante. Las actividades a desarrollar pueden ser ecológicas, artísticas, apoyo escolar, recreación o todas ellas. Los voluntarios estarán encargados de filmar y fotografiar diferentes actividades así que sería muy apreciado que tuvieran una cámara digital. En caso de no tenerla, usarían la del centro. La asociación cuenta con una cámara de video para que los voluntarios utilicen. Además de trabajar con niños y jóvenes los voluntarios trabajarán en temas de medio ambiente y culturales. Sería muy bueno si tienen la capacidad para compartir su conocimiento sobre como tocar algún instrumento, hablar algún idioma o realizar tareas artísticas.

Las actividades principales:

p En la Escuela contamos con 15 computadoras, con acceso a Internet, en donde se dictan clases de computación, alli se puede realizar cualquier tipo de actividad con los niños de la escuela.

p La ONG San Miguel Arcangel nos da la oportunidad de hacer uso de un espacio en otra parte de la ciudad ( Barrio 29 de Septiembre) en su Salón de usos múltiples San Miguel Arcangel, donde niños desde los dos a los catorce años van a jugar, comer y encontrarse. Los voluntarios tendrán la posibilidad de trabajar allí por lo menos una vez a la semana durante una hora y media para organizar actividades como las descriptas anteriormente así como lo que ellos crean conveniente.

p Durante las vacaciones de verano (desde Enero a Marzo), los voluntarios tendrán la oportunidad de organizar un campamento de verano una a cinco veces por semana

p Programa de radio un día por semana- colaborando con la programación, con los niños que van a concurrir, con los adolescentes, con la operación de los equipos, realizaremos una capacitación previa

p Además de trabajar con niños y jóvenes los voluntarios pueden compartir su conocimiento sobre como tocar algún instrumento, hablar algún idioma o realizar tareas artísticas.

p Tenemos a nuestra disposición guitarras que podrán ser utilizadas para enseñar o para usar en el contexto de nuestro proyecto cultural y artístico Expresarte www.proyecto-expresarte.blogspot.com [3] que consiste en enseñar gratuitamente música, guitarra (con un coro en lengua aborigen), teatro y danzas folklóricas, salón de juegos de mesa, mesas de ping pong, danzas rítmicas, adonde concurren 100 niños aproximadamente.

p En barrio TOBA es el lugar en donde viven personas de este gran Pueblo Originario, alli los voluntarios trabajan con los niños, en diferentes juegos buscando con los mismos lograr un trabajo en equipo, solidaridad, respeto y cooperación. Los niños tobas son muy pobres, muchos de ellos indigentes, ECOCLUB es la única Institución que trabaja en dicho barrio con los niños y adolescentes.

p Los voluntarios también trabajarán en talleres en escuelas en temas como Dengue, Basura y Medio Ambiente y colaborarán en la plantación de árboles en espacios comunitarios. Participarán en teatro de títeres, técnica muy utilizada para compartir información acerca de los temas mencionados anteriormente.

p Una vez o más por mes Ecoclub organiza “Cine en el barrio”.

Disposiciones prácticas para el Voluntario

Comida: el voluntario tendría el almuerzo gratis en a escuela lunes - Viernes. Desayuno y cena, y comida para el fin de semana son a cargo de los voluntarios.

Alojamiento: El voluntario vivirá o bien en una casa independiente con hasta tres otros voluntarios o en un departamento con baño privado con hasta otro voluntario, en la parte trasera de la casa familiar del coordinador del proyecto. Tendrán disposición bicicletas- los voluntarios están a cargo de guardar los bicis en buenas condiciones.

Description of the Region:

The province of Jujuy is located in the extreme North west of Argentina, 1600 km from the city of Buenos Aires (24 hours in bus), 300 km from the frontier of Bolivia and 150 km from Chile.

San Salvador is the capital of the province.

It is located in the zone of the valleys of the province and is a region neighbour to Quebrada de Humahuaca, Patrimonio Cultural y Natural de la Humanidad.

Its inhabitants, in their majority are descendants of original native groups, especially from the Aymara and Quechua cultures.

The village of Maimará is Found in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, 70 Km north of the capital of the province. The town has 4200 inhabitants and its economy is based on agriculture, construction, local commerce, tourism and civil service employees.

What is the Escuela-Taller de Comunicación Comunitaria y Popular, y Espacio Cultural

A Community School Communication- Workshops is principally a meeting space. We believe that through meeting and organizing ourselves we can change the living conditions in our town and in society in general. Specifically we thought about creating this space for encounter and organisation for learning, production and transmission of knowledge through graphic and audiovisual media.

Our school- workshop proposes to use the following instruments or communication tools:

· Radio

· Documental Cinema

· Documental and artistic photography

· Magazine-newspaper

The Escuela-Taller de Comunicación Comunitaria is created to provide a space for:

· Neighbourhood and community organisation

· Cultural and Artistic Expression

· Political training

· Strengthening of identities

· Re-valuation of regional cultures

· Denunciation and proposals to improve the community

· Education (health, atmosphere, gender, human rights etc.)

· Recreation and fun

Description of the work of the volunteer and the needs of the group:

The proposal for the volunteer is based on the activities of the group and depending on mutual interest this can be combined with work articulating with different organisations.

The activities can be:

Giving workshops on Computer science, radio, cinema, graphic media, editing of image and sound, and all referring to social communication.
To make part of a working team on the construction of pedagogical tools.
Participate in the written register, photography, and or filming, the systematization of the development of the activities
Working in the construction of the Cultural Space building
Accompany and assist in the different organisational, operative and administrative tasks.

The volunteers will also participate, depending on the possibilities in other activities and projects such as Theatre of the Oppressed Workshops with the Movimiento de Teatro del Oprimido de Jujuy.

We propose that the volunteer works on the activities, decided together, between 4 and 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, this could include weekends.

We offer the volunteer the possibility to:

Share daily social and family life, to get to know and learn about cultures and customs of the region
Participate in the training Workshops which are realized based on different themes in which the volunteer is involved or is interested in
To get to know, depending on the agreement together, the region the localities, close by touristic areas and small Andine communities.

All of this is based on Geographic possibilities, time and on an economic basis and based on mutual respect and learning through living together in interculturality

About the volunteer:

It is suggested, where possible, that the volunteer has a base in the following aptitudes, attitudes and/ or interests:

Intermediate Spanish
Knowledge about social communication and or some of these tools: Radio, editing of sound, image, cinema, photography, editing of graphic media.
Practice and interest in educative and social work
To be organised and independent
A good predisposition, have respect, and a good link with the people and places

Accommodation: Shared with a family or in a shared house.

La provincia de Jujuy está ubicada al extremo Noroeste de la Argentina, a 1600 km de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (24 hs en ómnibus), a 300 km de la frontera con Bolivia y a 150 km de Chile.

Sus habitantes, en gran proporción, son descendientes de los pueblos originarios, sobre todo de culturas aymara y quechua.

El pueblo de Maimará se encuentra en la Quebrada de Humahuaca, a 70 Km al norte de la capital de la provincia. Tiene alrededor de 4200 habitantes y su economía se basa en la agricultura, la construcción, el comercio local, el turismo y el empleo público.

Qué es la Escuela-Taller de Comunicación Comunitaria y Popular, y Espacio Cultural

Una Escuela-Taller de Comunicación Comunitaria es, principalmente, un espacio de encuentro. Creemos que encontrándonos y organizándonos es como cambiamos las condiciones de vida de nuestra ciudad y de la sociedad en general. Específicamente este espacio de encuentro y organización lo pensamos para el aprendizaje, la producción y transmisión de conocimiento a través de medios gráficos y audiovisuales.

Nuestra escuela-taller se propone utilizar los siguientes instrumentos o herramientas de comunicación:

· Radio

· Cine Documental

· Fotografía documental y artística

· Revista-Periódico

La Escuela-Taller de Comunicación Comunitaria se conforma para generar un espacio de:

· Organización barrial y comunitaria

· Expresión cultural y artística

· Formación política

· Fortalecimiento de las identidades

· Re-valorización de las culturas regionales

· Denuncia y proposición para el mejoramiento de la comunidad

· Educación (salud, ambiente, género, derechos humanos, etc.)

· Recreación y diversión

REQUISITOS:

ü Una carta desde la organización de envió confirmando que han tenido contacto personal con el voluntario y que van o han hecho en una formación “pre departure” y que el voluntario está motivado y preparado para trabajar con jóvenes en lugares de bajos recursos

Descripción del trabajo del/a voluntario/a y de las necesidades de la agrupación:

La propuesta para el voluntario está centrada en las actividades de la Organización y según las voluntades mutuas se podrán combinar con el trabajo articulado con otras organizaciones.

Las actividades podrán ser:

Dictado de talleres sobre Informática, Radio, Cine, Medios Gráficos, Edición de Imagen y Sonido, y todo lo referente a la Comunicación Social.
Formar parte del equipo de trabajo en la construcción de herramientas pedagógicas.
Participar del registro escrito, fotográfico y/o fílmico, y sistematización del desarrollo de las actividades.
Trabajar en la construcción del edificio del Espacio Cultural
Acompañar y asistir en las distintas tareas organizativas, operativas y administrativas.

También participará, según las posibilidades, de otras actividades y proyectos como Talleres desde el Movimiento de Teatro del Oprimido de Jujuy.

Se propone que el voluntario trabaje en las actividades, conjuntamente acordadas, entre 4 y 6 horas por día, 5 días a la semana, pudiendo ser en el fin de semana.

Se le ofrece al voluntario la posibilidad de:

Compartir la vida cotidiana social y familiar, conocer y aprender sobre la cultura y costumbres de la región.
Participar de los talleres de capacitación que se realicen sobre las distintas disciplinas en las que esté involucrado y/o tenga interés.
Conocer, según acuerdo conjunto, la región y localidades cercanas turísticas y pequeñas comunidades andinas.

Todo esto según la posibilidad geográfica, de tiempo y económica, y basados en el respeto mutuo y aprendizaje de la convivencia en la interculturalidad.

Sobre el Voluntario:

Se sugiere, de ser posible, que el voluntario tenga alguna de las siguientes aptitudes, actitudes y/o intereses:

· Español intermediario

Conocimientos sobre comunicación social y/o alguna de sus herramientas: Radio, edición de sonido, edición de imagen, cine, fotografía, edición medios gráficos.
Práctica e interés en el trabajo educativo y social.
Ser organizado e independiente.

Description of the region:

The province of Jujuy is located in the extreme North west of Argentina, 1600 km from the city of Buenos Aires (24 hours in bus), 300 km from the frontier of Bolivia and 150 km from Chile.

San Salvador is the capital of the province.

It is located in the zone of the valleys of the province and is a region neighbour to Quebrada de Humahuaca, Patrimonio Cultural y Natural de la Humanidad.

Its inhabitants, in their majority are descendants of original native groups, especially from the Aymara and Quechua cultures.

Description of the hosting project:

The Ecology commission of the movement Tupaj Katari:

The commission has been working for the last four years in distinct activities which are related to ecology and care for the environment.

One of the strongest roles is to accompany the process of different communities in the treatment of household waste, natural construction techniques, efficient use of wood, and defense of the territory in front of the threat from mega mining companies. They work from the point of providing information, accompanying negotiations and actions, and diffusion about the situation and activities.

There will also be different activities based on diffusion in schools and social organizations, working in a participative way and though popular education techniques.

Other tasks will be based on investigation of legal information and techniques about the processes of mining in the country.

In addition to this we are advancing on the experimentation and searching of alternative energies (solar, biogas etc).

Within the commission for Ecology we are around 10 young people with distinct experiences and knowledge and we articulate with the rest of the movement Tupaj Katari and with other social and cultural organisations.

Description of the work of the volunteer and the needs of the group:

The proposal for the volunteer is based on the activities of the commission and depending on mutual interest this can be combined with work articulating with different organisations.

The activities can be:

Participation in the writing, photographic and or filming, and the systematization of the development of the activities.
To be part of the working team in the construction of pedagogical tools for diffusion and information
Investigate and search for information about the themes in Internet and thorough other medias
Work in the activities of natural construction and other natural materials and recycling
Accompany and assist in the different organisational, operative and administrative tasks

The volunteers will also participate, depending on the possibilities in other activities and projects such as Theatre of the Oppressed Workshops with the Movimiento de Teatro del Oprimido de Jujuy.

We propose that the volunteer works on the activities, decided together, between 4 and 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, this could include weekends.

We offer the volunteer the possibility to:

Share daily social and family life, to get to know and learn about cultures and customs of the region
Participate in the training Workshops which are realized based on different themes in which the volunteer is involved or is interested in
To get to know, depending on the agreement together, the region the localities, close by touristic areas and small Andine communities.

All of this is based on Geographic possibilities, time and on an economic basis and based on mutual respect and learning through living together in interculturality

About the volunteer:

It is suggested, where possible, that the volunteer has a base in the following aptitudes, attitudes and/ or interests:

Comisión de Ecología del Movimiento Tupaj Katari:

Desde la Comisión se está trabajando desde hace más de 4 años en distintas actividades que tienen que ver con la ecología y el cuidado del medio Ambiente.

Una de las tareas más fuertes es acompañar procesos en distintas comunidades para el trabajo de tratamiento de los residuos, construcciones en materiales naturales para el uso eficiente de la leña, y la defensa del territorio ante el avasallamiento de las empresas de mega minería. Se trata de trabajar desde el aporte de información, el acompañamiento de las gestiones y acciones, y la difusión de la situación y las actividades.

También se llevan adelante actividades de difusión en escuelas y organizaciones sociales, intentando un abordaje participativo y desde la Educación Popular.

Otras tareas tienen que ver con la investigación de información legal y técnica sobre los procesos de la Minería en el país.

Además se está avanzando con la experimentación y búsqueda en el uso de energías alternativas (solar, biogás, etc)

Dentro de la Comisión de Ecología somos alrededor de 10 jóvenes con distintas experiencias y saberes y a su vez articulamos con el resto del Movimiento Tupaj Katari y con otras organizaciones sociales y culturales.

Work: Cultural/ Social/ Environmental/ Kids (School support for children and young people)

Fees: Travel (internal and external) costs and costs related to the on arrival training (room and food) of the volunteer are at the volunteers charge.

The volunteer will make a one off payment to Subir al Sur in argentine pesos on arrival depending on the volunteers time of stay 1 month - 450 pesos, 2-3 months 650 pesos, and 4-12 months 950 pesos. This money covers administration costs of Subir al Sur during the volunteers stay.

PROJECT:

ASOCIACIÓN CIVIL “QUINTA DE LA FAMILIA LILIANE ¿Who are we? The Asoc. Civil “Quinta de la Familia Liliane” is a non profit organization which works on the psychophysical rehabilitation of children and young people with or without disabilities who live in poverty and social vulnerability, we give in this way an authentic space of integration, containment, promotion and recreation, where the children and young people can interact together and learn without differences ¿WHERE ARE WE? Our base in found in a marginalized neighbourhood in the town of Vera, province of Santa Fe (Argentina) called the Sección Quintas o Guadalupe. The town of Vera is 260 km North of the Capital of the Province and going in the same direction, 800 km from the Capital of the Country along the National Road Nº11.

¿HOW DO WE WORK? In the Quinta de la Familia Liliane we work optimizing time and space which we have making the maximum use of our resources which are managed on a local, national and International level. Our direction is to work using the methodology of Popular Education, through Workshops, meetings, talks and individual attention

Description of the work of the volunteer and the necessities of the association:

The volunteer must be ready to work in an independent manner with children and young people with social problems who live in underprivileged neighbourhoods (with unsatisfied Basic necessities, physical disabilities). We would like the volunteers to have the capacity to approach young people, Exchange, share moments and knowledge, communicate and spend time with them. The activities will be developed in the organisations base.

Currently there are 60 children and young people who assist in the institution and participate in the activities. There are individual attention spaces for children who show learning problems, the rest of the areas are used for workshops which groups together children and young people by age. Activities are also developed with adults especially women. The volunteers will work with them from two to four times a week during two or three hours organising activities with a reduced group of children or young people, the volunteers will be accompanied in this task by someone from the institution.

The activities to be developed may be ecological, artistic, school support, recreation, accompaniment- or all of the above. The volunteers will be charged with filming and taking photos of the different activities so it would be much appreciated if they have a digital camera. Currently the institution does not have a video camera or digital camera.

Some activities:

p The volunteers will be charged with planning activities, games etc with children whilst they are waiting to see the educational psychologist in the centre

p The institution has a big green area which needs to be maintained in the best conditions to realise some activities for which help will be asked from the volunteers, the same when there is painting work to be done or when improving the condition of some of the rooms of the base, all of these tasks will be consulted with the volunteer

p During the summer holidays (Febuary-March), the volunteers will have the opportunity to organise a summer camp from one to five times a week using Workshops based on different themes in order to raise awareness in children.

p In addition to working with children and young people the volunteers will work on environmental and cultural themes. It would be great if the volunteers have the possibility to share any abilities they may have such as how to play an instrument, teach a language, or undertake artistic works.

p Any artistic ability would be really appreciated, in this case the institution will be able to manage the possibility of attaining instruments or materials which may be lacking (always and when it is something which can be found in the locality), this could be used to teach or to use within the educational, cultural and artistic project of the organization. It would also be appreciated the possibility to transmit information, knowledge, languages etc…

p If the volunteers wish they may also work on workshops in schools or other institutions in different neighbourhoods which whom different activities are developed.

p The volunteers will participate in different activities around, Murga (Murga is a form of popular musical theatre performed in Uruguay), Murals, cooking and recreation. In addition to this once a week there are activities of “Cinema in the Neighbourhoods”

Practical Information for the Volunteer

Food: Is NOT provided.

Accommodation: The volunteer will live in a house which is lent to the institution and will share with two male hosts who live there (who also make part of the Quinta Liliane) and with up to three other volunteers depending on the time of year and the exchange. There are two pets living on the inside of the house (a dog and a cat).

ASOCIACIÓN CIVIL “QUINTA DE LA FAMILIA LILIANE ¿QUIENES SOMOS? La Asoc. Civil “Quinta de la Familia Liliane” es una entidad sin fines de lucro que trabaja en la rehabilitación psicofísica de niños y jóvenes con y sin discapacidad que viven en situación de pobreza y vulnerabilidad social, brindando de esta manera un espacio auténtico de integración contención, promoción y recreación, donde se convive y se aprenda sin diferencias. ¿DONDE ESTAMOS? Nuestra sede se encuentra en un barrio marginal de la Ciudad de Vera, Provincia de Santa Fe (Argentina) llamado Sección Quintas o Guadalupe. La ciudad de Vera se encuentra a 260 km. Al norte de la capital de la provincia y a 800 km en la misma dirección de la Capital Federal, sobre la ruta Nacional Nº11.

¿COMO TRABAJAMOS? En la Quinta de la Familia Liliane trabajamos optimizando el tiempo y el espacio del cual disponemos optimizando al máximo los recursos que se gestionan a nivel local, nacional e internacional. Nuestro abordaje es a través de la metodología de la Educación Popular, a través de talleres, encuentros, charlas, y atención individualizada.

Descripción del trabajo del voluntario y de las necesidades de la asociación:

Actualmente los niños y jóvenes que asisten a la institución son aproximadamente 60 que participan de las distintas actividades. Hay espacios de atención individualizada para niños que presentan problemas de aprendizajes, luego el resto de los espacios son mediante la metodología de talleres donde se los agrupa a los niños y jóvenes por edades. También se realizan actividades con adultos fundamentalmente mujeres. Los voluntarios trabajarán con ellos desde dos a cuatro veces por semana durante dos o tres horas organizando actividades con un grupo reducido de niños y/o jóvenes, acompañados en la tarea por alguien de la institución. Las actividades a desarrollar pueden ser ecológicas, artísticas, apoyo escolar, recreación, acompañamiento o todas ellas. Los voluntarios estarán encargados de filmar y fotografiar diferentes actividades así que sería muy apreciado que tuvieran una cámara digital. Actualmente la institución no cuenta con cámara filmadora o fotográfica.

Unas actividades

p Los voluntarios organizaran actividades con niños mientras esperan a la psicopedagoga

p La Institución cuenta con un gran predio de espacio verde que requiere ser mantenido en óptimas condiciones para realizar algunas actividades por lo que se le pedirá ayuda a los voluntarios, lo mismo que si en ese momento se está pintando o acondicionando alguno de los espacios del edificio sede, todas estas actividades siempre serán consultadas con los voluntarios para evitar malestares en las tareas.

p Durante las vacaciones de verano (desde Enero a Marzo), los voluntarios tendrán la oportunidad de organizar un campamento de verano una a cinco veces por semana siguiendo cada una un tema diferente para sensibilizar a los niños en diferentes temas a través de talleres.

p Además de trabajar con niños y jóvenes los voluntarios trabajarán en temas de medio ambiente y culturales. Sería muy bueno si tienen la capacidad para compartir su conocimiento sobre como tocar algún instrumento, hablar algún idioma o realizar tareas artísticas.

p Cualquier habilidad artística será apreciada enormemente, en este sentido la institución puede gestionar para conseguir instrumentos o el material que hiciere falta (siempre y cuando no sea algo que en nuestra localidad no se consiguiera), que podrán ser utilizados para enseñar o para usar en el contexto de nuestro proyecto educativo, cultural y artístico También se apreciará la capacidad para transmitir información, compartir conocimiento, lenguajes, etc.

p Los voluntarios (si lo desean) también trabajarán en talleres en escuelas u otras instituciones barriales con los que se articulan algunas actividades.

Disposiciones prácticas para el Voluntario

Comida: NO incluido

Alojamiento: El voluntario vivirá en una casa lindera a la institución y compartida con los dos anfitriones que allí residen (también integrantes de la institución) y con hasta tres otros voluntarios más de acuerdo a la época del año y de las situaciones de intercambio. En el interior de la casa conviven dos mascotas (un perro y una gata)
