Project description

The organic farm is located on a 900 meters mountain-plateau near Zug. From there you have a beautiful view on the lake and the Alps. Deer breeding is a part of the activities of the farm. Alternative courses are offered and a festival is organised. The farm welcomes guests for holidays and meditation and offers meals for hiking-tourists. They work regularly with people with special needs, who live in a caravan fleet, do garden work and handicraft. The farmer-family wishes to establish a community all around the year. It is an organic agricultural-, spiritual-, artisan-, community.

Work description

According to season and your skills, you will do organic gardening, construction work, general farming, welcome visitors in the small restaurant, housework, you will be involved in arts project and maybe do some public relation activities. Moreover, Hirschenhof welcomes an SCI Workcamp with 6 to 8 volunteers every year in July. The LTV can help to organise the workcamp.

You will work seven-eight hours five days a week.

From time to time, the volunteer will also be asked to help the kids living in the house for different activities.

Requierements

The work can be physically demanding.

You also have to be willing to live and work with people in difficult living situations and to share life and work in a community. As the farm is located in a remote and very beautiful surrounding, it helps if you feel comfortable living away from ”civilisation”.

As the deer are slaughtered on the farm, you must be OK with the thought of going to see blood and dead deer at some stage of your stay.

Basic German needed or strong motivation to learn German.
