PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES

This rewarding program is a great way for you to discover Thailand, its culture, customs and people. You will be teaching in a schools near the Singburi region- central Thailand. As a participant, you will be working as an English teacher teaching mainly conversational English to students of all ages.

-        All participants will take part in our standard Introduction week and a 1 week Teacher Training Program. The Teacher training program is aimed at helping participants become confident teachers and will give an opportunity to learn about the culture, customs, and an introduction to the Thai language and take part in some excursions. We do not expect all participants to be or to become teachers. The training will be focused on how to manage a class, what to teach and how to behave yourself in a classroom.

-       In the first 2 weeks, you will get to know:

1.The General introduction of Culture, language and the surrounding:

Thai Culture/culture difference analysis, survival Thai lessons, chances to get to know local people.

           2. Thai Culture:

Experience the normal local life --- learn how to cook Thai food, understand more about the Thai school systems, Students psychology and some excursions ---and visits to the nearby towns/ villages.

          3. Teaching Techniques:

You will learn more about how to teach the students both theoretically and practically: Classroom management, teaching planning, textbook analysis etc., observe the classes of your peers and some experienced teachers and practice by teaching your peers and also in some local schools.

-        After participating Introduction Week and Training Week, you will be placed in the local schools which can not afford Foreign teachers in or around the Singburi region, since they lack English teachers. The placement is decided during your training period. We work with schools all over central Thailand and with students of all ages from kindergarten age to secondary school. Most schools are based in more rural areas where the schools have never have any foreign teachers. In most probability, you will be the first foreign teacher for the children.

-          Your main role is to teach conversational English, so you can be fairly creative and have fun doing this. Current volunteers often use songs and games to aid them in their teaching, which is great fun for you and your students! The students are very keen to learn and enjoy having foreign teachers at the school.
