PROJECT: Concordia has been working with the community of “Bassin de Gannat” district since 1997. Many municipalities have already hosted international workcamps. Another Concordia workcamp will take place at the same period in a village close to Gannat. Many exchanges with the local young people and all the volunteers will be planned. This workcamp will take place in Gannat and it will deal with the renovation of a memorial house where 4 young people of Gannat, involved in the Resistance, have been killed during World War 2. A ceremony to pay homage to these young people will be organized the 25th of July 2009. WORK: You will renovate a stonemade vineyard shed. You will take off the coating of the external walls of the shed and you will make masonry jobs like making coating and joints with lime (mortar) and brushing. LOCATION: The municipality of Gannat (5800 inhabitants) is located at 50 km North from Clermont-Ferrand in Allier County. It’s a rural region rich in historical heritage (numerous castles and Romanesque churches). ACCOMMODATION: two places tents (bring your sleeping mat), group life in a collective tent, bathroom and kitchen in the changing room of the rugby stadium. TERMINAL: Gannat train station. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Nights can be cold, so bring warm clothes, work clothes and a sleeping bag. Bikes will be your means of transport.
