Workcamps in Togo

Project: Within the framework of the educational campaign of the young people in the UNESCO world heritage through the voluntary service, Friends of the Earth-Togo Co organizes a workcamp with the World Heritage center and the committee of coordination of the international voluntary service. The objective of this project is to involve more young people and locale communities in the protection of the “Agglomeration Aneho-Glidji”which is on the tentative list of UNESCO world heritage.
Activities: The volunteers will sensitize the local community and the authorities on UNESCO world heritage. Among others activities they will make film projection followed by debates, distribution of flyers on the world heritage followed by explanation , meeting with opinion leaders, cleaning sessions of vestiges and creation of quickset hedges on certain sanctuaries crowned by the divinities of the village.
Volunteers will collaborate with the conservator of the site during the campaign to promote the project. They will participate besides in the ceremonies of grip of the sacred stone, the color of which determines every year the nature of events in this community.
Location: The city of Aneho is closed to Glidji and they are respectively at 45 and 50km from Lomé, the capital of Togo.
Accommodation: Within the families of the agglomerations.
