And each grade consists of approximately 19 students, small number comparing to the student number in other elementary school which usually consists of 30 up to 40 students. There are 9 teachers all together, including the head master who doubled his/her job to teach the students as well due to the limited number of teachers. Sometimes one teacher teaches 1 until 2 subjects in the class because the school has no enough funds to hire more teachers. This project will be the third year project organized by IIWC in answering the needs of preserving the coastal side of North Java Sea in Mangkang. About 2 km costal line in Mangkang area is now in danger due to the abrasion of the sea, cutting mangrove by local people and heavy force from the river flows. The local community would like to make a green belt along the damaged coastal line. It has been more than 7 years they try to get help from the government or the other environment institution but until now there is only 1 km green belt done. So, last summer, on August 1st-2nd 2009, during the 2nd Mangkang Camp 2009, IIWC together with LSM Lepaas organized the 1st Jamboree Mangrove International in this area. 350 volunteers from Indonesia together with 20 international volunteers participated in this Jamboree and they succeeded to plant more than 60.000 mangrove seeds. This action made a great impact. The local people are more aware with this issue; more students do planting mangrove project in Mangkang more regularly, the local company would like to help providing the seeds, and the local government is considering the idea to create Mangrove center in Mangkang. However, in order to keep the sustainability of the project for the result of the green Mangkang in the future, IIWC commits to keep doing the voluntary activities in Mangkang. The aims of the camps are to help to increase the awareness of the local people and the fisherman to protect their environment as well as their future. Work: Planting mangrove, and other trees for beach, environment education to local people and children, school visits for environment education and Olympic Games for environment. Description
Project: The project, mainly will be promoting the preservation natural diversity and sea shore from the abrasion because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main focus of the camp. Special remarks: Very hot and less hygiene condition of poor coastal area, be ready with sun block and sun burnt. Bring some ideas for environment education (especially about mangrove and how to take care of it) and Olympic games for environment education for small children aged from 6-12 and adult.

IIWC1016/Heritage/13-26 July 2010/Borobudur Patrimonito World Heritage Volunteer Work Camp/Borobudur Temple,Borobudur village, Mungkid municipality, Magelang Regency, Central Java Indonesia/18+/20 (15 international vols, 5 Indonesian vols)
General Background
The second international work camp organized in Borobudur temple (find the link of UNESCO's inscription for Borobudur) for world heritage volunteer project under the scheme of UNESCO World Heritage Education program, Borobudur Patrimonito International Work camp focuses on the education and awareness campaigns by involving local senior high school students trained as "Young Guardian", local youth and local people. The target group of the project is visitors of the temple (both domestic and international visitors).
The focus of the work camp is taken based on the result of a study conducted by the Directorate of History and archeology, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Republic Indonesia, that one of the challenges faced for protecting, promoting and preserving Borobudur temple is human being with their un- friendly preservation behaviors toward the World Heritage site ( for example: littering in the temple area, climbing the stupa of the temple, touching and scratching the relief, etc). These un- friendly preservation behaviors are resulted from 2 main reasons: lack of knowledge on the world heritage site in general ( the meaning of world heritage site for human and the consequences as part of the society having the world heritage site) and the lack of sense belonging toward the site that leads to the lack of responsibility in preserving, promoting and protecting the site.
Thus, education, awareness raising and changing behavior efforts have to be done to face this situation. The first Borobudur patrimonito work camp in 2009 was able to create a group of 31 Senior High school students under the name of "Young Guardian", create educational material for world heritage education highlighting the active involvement of youth and local community if preserving, promoting and protecting the world heritage site in 6 different languages, organize 6 days awareness campaigns entitled " Young Guardian in Action: Together we care" with visitors of Borobudur temple as target group. Beside giving education for the youth to take active involvement in the preservation, promotion and protection effort, the camp was also giving change for them to experience the difficulties of preservation, promotion and protection efforts and implement directly the strategies planned in managing the visitors and increasing their awareness on the importance of their role in determining the future of the temple.
This year Borobudur patrimonito work camp is designed as one of the follow up activities for last year project. The camp will be divided into 3 main activities; Preparation of workshop and training for the second batch "Young Guardian", Training for the Young Guardian, and the awareness campaigns by organizing one stop service desk for visitors of the temple. The objective of the camp is awareness rising for the local visitors lead to friendly preservation, promotion and protection of Borobudur temple. While the aims of the camp will be: 1) Organizing second batch training for young guardian network for 30 local senior high school students that will act as multiplier for the world heritage education project in their locality. 2) Organizing workshops for creating promotional education materials or tools for public awareness campaigns on the One stop service stands (creating a research paper for the visitors, deciding the method for the research, deciding on how to conduct the 30 minutes information, education session, and short discussion with the visitors on the preservation, promotion and protection issues, and other creative ideas of public campaigns). 3) Organizing public awareness campaign by distributing education and promotion materials and running 10 spots of "one stop service" stand for 30 minutes session on world heritage education issues (10 minutes of animation of the background of the activity and distributing the research paper, 10 minutes open discussion on how youth in specific (how local community/national community) could take active participation in preservation, promotion and protection of Borobudur temple, 10 minutes of filling in the research paper of suggestion for plan of action from visitors to visitors). These campaigns are expected to involve 15 international volunteers, 5 national volunteers, 30 young guardians from the second batch training, 20 young guardian from first batch training, 50 respective senior high school students for next training and campaigns, 10 local youths. There will be 5 days dedicated for campaigns with time allocation as follows: 1 days x 4 activities (30 minutes each) x 10 spots ( by 13 participants as facilitators)x 10 visitors ( for 1 time activity ) reaching in total 400 visitors in a day. The campaigns will be done for 5 days in row to be expected to reach 2000 visitors in total. 4). Strengthening the cooperation with all stake holder and site management of world heritage site in Indonesia.
The expected results from the work camp are: 1).
