Work: Environmental

Details: Volunteers will be working with the Rangers in the Carmarthenshire Countryside Service to complete tasks that will make the countryside more accessible for local people. Work can include building footpaths, clearing existing pathways, maintaining fences and other tasks. Volunteers should come prepared for outdoor work in all weather - remember that this is the Welsh winter! Volunteers should be physically fit.

Accommodation: Volunteers will stay at the Llandysul Canoe Centre. They will sleep in bunk beds in dormitories and cook together in a shared kitchen.

The project:
« Couleur Café » is a non-profit organization, they work principally against the social exclusion. The aim of this project is to permit to some people (foreigner people, disabled people, local population...) to share time together. For that, they organize different workshops: painting, cooking, gardening, informatics, help children for homework...They will have a nice place to welcome all these people. This big house is calling "La Hore Kinon", an older barn.
Work:
The volunteers with the help of technical leaders will work in this house: paint the inside wall, put planks on the floor...You could see the link of a local TV  http://www.televesdre.eu/site/malmedy_la_renovation_de_la_hore_kinon_en_... . The outside of this house is already over.
Accommodation:
The volunteer will sleep in a common dormitory near the place where they'll work. Shower & toilets are available.
Food:
The diner will be prepared by "Couleur Café", but don't hesitate to bring your favourite recipes from your country.
Location:
Malmedy is a small town (10 000 inhabitants) in the french speacking part of Belgium. The town is very touristic & you could find anythings what you need in the numerous shops & pubs . The biggest cities near Malmedy are Verviers & Liège. Malmedy is very famous for its carnival & the lovely nature around the Warche Valley. Specific information:
The volunteers have to bring a sleeping bag, a mat, a pair of work shoes & some clothes they might get dirty.
Meeting point:
The Sunday 1st of April in between 2.00pm & 3.00pm at the Verviers Central train station. You'll have an appointment with your camp leader & a member of the local host.

You will have to help a handicapped vacationer in his daily life: showers, meals... but moreover you will be with him/her during the mainly different activities organized by the centre The first 2 days of the camp will be dedicated to a special training in order to allow you to learn the good behaviors and technics to help the people (how to drive a wheel chair, how to do wash someone...). Former volunteers will tutor you during this training. Days of work are going from 8 AM to after diner. One day off during the week so that you can rest or stay with the group to visit some local attraction. The group of international may be very small, but don't worry different French volunteers speak English, and you will be welcome in a familial atmosphere.

You will be hosted within the centre, with other volunteers. Dormitory or rooms of 2/3 people. Showers and WC available. Meals shared with the handicapped vacationers. Any food diet is possible (gluten free, vegetarian...)

The Ermitage is located in the wonderful region of Trièves, surrounded by the Alps mountains, at 68 km from grenoble and 67 km from Gap. With the handicapped vacationers, you will participate to many different activities: adapted sport, manual activities, mountain leisure activities, swimming in a lake, visit of Grenoble or gap...according to the timetable of the camp. You will have many occasion to discover the region. Moreover the centre focuses on a regional approach of tourism and food ! you can discover French cuisine in the mountains !

U01 Festival au fond du jardin du Michel (Bulligny) 19/05-09/06 Fest +18

The project: Bulligny is a small village of Lorraine located on the side of a hill, in the southwest of the district of Meurthe-et-Moselle. Belonging to the chain of the Côtes de Meuse, Bulligny is near the departments of Meuse and Vosges. It is about ten kilometers of Toul, second town of Meurthe-et-Moselle and at around thirty km west of Nancy, the main city of the district.
The topography of Bulligny gives it a particular landscape, and floral and agricultural variety which can be cut in four main parts : the plain below, the plateau at the top and between them, the two parts of the slope of the hill : below a quite flat slope and at the top a strong slope. It is on these limestone hills that we find the wineyards producing the Grey of Toul.
This village has been hosting for years the festival of today's music: Au fond du jardin du Michel (meaning : at the back of Michel's garden), which gathers every year several thousand festival-goers.

Works : The volunteers will participate to the laying out and the setting up of the site of the festival and the campsite as well as the dismantling. They will be supervised by the manager of site as well as by local volunteers involved in the event. The setting up begins on May 21st and the dismantling on June 4th.

Activities : On your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don't expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group.

Accommodation : You will be accommodated in a guest house located 3km from the place of the festival.

U02 Festival Plein La Bobine (La Bourboule) 01/06- 18/06 Fest/kids +18

French speaking camp !

The project Festival Plein la Bobine 2011 = cinema + children + science ! You like one of these themes ? You are interested by 2 or 3 of them ? So, this workcamp is for you! The AFFE (local organisation for a film festival for children) organises every year the festival "Plein la Bobine" for children from 3 to 12 years old which aims to develop programs of visual education in connection with cinema. Every year has a different theme. This year it is NATURE, and the 10th anniversary of the festival!! Cinema-addicts, come to discover the festival Plein la Bobine ! Works : You will fully participate in the setting up of the festival: installation of the scenery, the exhibitions, the equipment, preparation of badges, posters, signposting. One part of your work will be linked to the young public : welcome, seating, etc. You will also help in leading Nature workshops and activities for children groups (probably on recycling art, on children sensitization to environmental protection...). All takes place in the casino of the town.

Activities : On your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don't expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group.
Location : You will be based on the La Bourboule spa town (at an altitude of 852 metres), in the middle of the Nature Park of Auvergne Volcanoes. La Bourboule stretches on the banks of the Dordogne River crossed by many bridges and has a splendid sequoias wooded area. You will be located near the hiking paths and you will enjoy the activities organized by the municipality for the spa users. You will also have access to the facilities of the town: shops, activities.

U03 Festival La Bouchure (Commentry) 22/06- 06/07 Fest/kids +18

French speaking camp !

The project : Festival of La Bouchure : contemporary and eclectic music in rural France !
For the 7th consecutive year, the organisation Les Bouchures is happy to host international volunteers to help in the implementation of a amplified music festival. The "bouchure" designates locally the field hedge because one of the characteristic of this music festival is to be located in rural area and to be touring (moving from a village to another). On the program: 4 days of music festival in 4 villages & 70 local volunteers hosting around 10 music groups and 8000 spectators!
Be ready to live on the steady rhythm of this festival, to adapt yourself to the unexpected moments of these 4 happy days. In return, the workcamp will be rich in meeting and cultural discoveries : the members of the local association will introduce you to the region's discovery and to their passion for the 'contemporary musics'. Works : You will participate in the implementation of the festival (which takes place from the 27th to the 30th of June): installation and dismantling of the performance sites (fences, stalls, bar, etc.), create and install arrows for itinerary, reception of the public, management of the refreshment and food stall...
Because the festival is touring, this job again repeat each day : caution, the work s rhythm is heavy during the 4 festival days ! Free hand will be let to the group for sensitizing young people and families to auditary risks due to high level sounds : animations, strolling performances... almost everything is allowed! A training will be proposed and material provided (earplugs...). Good ideas and creative minds are welcome !

Location : You will live in the small town of Commentry in the heart of the Bourbonnais region in the Allier department. Former mining city, today it is a pleasant place for its 7,000 inhabitants and its tourists. You will find shops, parks and would go around its rich heritage linked to its industrial past... you will have walks in the surrounding area (lakes, typical villages...). Around 15km from Montluçon, in a former mining and industrial region, the town still keeps the economical and social memory of the territory. Neighbour villages, involved in the festival, will allow you to discover built and natural heritage : Huds and its roman church, Malicornes and its conservation orchard, Colombier and its legendary spring...

Accommodation : In the village hall converted in dormitory room - kitchen right on site and showers five minutes walking from there(sport stadium's locker room).

U04 Auzat (Auzat) 22/06- 13/07 Archeo/Manu +18
French speaking camp

The project The town of Auzat, situated in a lovely valley in the Pyrenees mountains, has been organising organised archaeological excavations for several years. This year, excavations will take place on a former place of shepherd accommodation, Les Orris du Carla, located at 1617m above sea level, about half an hour from the Auzat village.

During the excavations you will work with volunteers coming from all backgrounds in a spirit of cultural and intercultural discovery.

Works : You will participate to the works under the supervision of the person in charge of excavations. The work takes place every other day. In case of rain, you will focus on cleaning and sorting the found objects. The work is very precise, sometimes hard, and extremely interesting and rewarding if you are fond of archaeology ! A UNAREC campleader will welcome you and accompany you for the organisation of the campsite, of daily life and of local culture discovery. You will fully participate to it.

Activities : The mountainous landscape will allow you to have numerous hikes. You will be able to discover the valley of Vic-Dessos, its caves and its markets.

Location : In this little Pyrenees valley, you can find caves with rock painting, several castles, museums... For more information, http://auzatvicdessos.free.fr/. Some visits are free, others need an entry fee. Do not forget your ‘Discovery budget' (from 50 to 100€). A gastronomy discovery activity will be organised. There are facilities and shops in the valley (bars, restaurants, bakery, etc.)

Accommodation : The campsite will be near the excavation site, at 1617metres above sea level, without electricity nor running water. All the material will be brought by car. There will be individual tents for the night a big one for cooking and collective life. Do not forget your torch lamps. Moutain springs will provide our water. Dry toilets will be set up and maintained, as well as solar showers. The Auzat camping, at half an hour by car, will welcome from time to time for a break, a night, a shower, for swimming, for washing your clothes !

Special Requirements : Caution: : To join this workcamp it is compulsory to be vaccinated against tetanus. An attestation will be asked on arrival. It is compulsory to bring good trekking shoes, enough warm clothes, torch lamp and high mountain sleeping bag (-15/20°C). Temperatures in June/July are not very low. Follow this advice to guarantee good comfort ! Bring a mountain foam rubber mattress, a flask and water purifying pills, and a small or medium backpack !

PROJECT: Consulta Giovanile is a local youth forum since 2006 which achieve local and international youth activities like information, creativity, international exchanges, volunteering experiences. This is our fifth workcamp, and this time it's aimed to support the International youth classic drama by INDA (www.indafondazione.org). In fact every year during May thousands of youth actors from Europe and Italy come in Palazzolo to act greek and latin dramas. The Festival is setted in Palazzolo within the ancient greek theatre by the original town called "Akrai".
WORK: volunteers, after two training days, will work in the Festival organization in different tasks: helping practical tasks during dramas, street promotional activities, welcome activities, exibition's opening, youth events organization, leisure activities.
LOCATION: Palazzolo Acreide (10000 inhabitants, 670 meters above sea level) is a small town near Siracusa founded by Greeks in 664 b.C. with the name of Akrai. Palazzolo has a millenary history and has been recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO for the baroque architecture. Its position is strategic to go easly to Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa, and Catania (http://www.palazzolo-acreide.it/eng/index.htm).
ACCOMMODATION in a guest-house with beds, bathrooms, kitchen and essential services. The volunteers, in daily shifts, will be responsible for cleaning, as well as for the preparation of the breackfast and dinner. Lunch at restaurant is provided for free.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES. Visits Siracusa, local museums, free entrance to Siracusa drama rapresentation. Some evening parties.

BACKGROUND: Lo Spirito del Pianeta is an international ethnic festival where ethnic groups from all over the world introduce themselves through performances (dances, songs, rites, conferences, workshops), interacting with the festival visitors in order to make themselves better known and understood. The festival also includes a fair with about 100 stands where crafts are sold to the festival visitors. Various activities for children and adults are organized on the festival grounds. There is an Italian restaurant, a vegetarian and an Ethiopic restaurant, a Doner-Kebab-stor. Each night a different ethnic group performs its traditional arts. Last year's edition had over 130.000 visitors. The aim of the festival is to make everyone understand that, even if we may look differently and come from different parts of the world, we are all humans of one kind. Another important objective is to reveal problems and history that might be unknown to many of us and, try to support people who is in need if they have a project that could improve their lives on their original territory, while preserving their traditions. WORK: International volunteers will be part of a bigger team of volunteers helping set up and run the festival. International volunteers will help building and disassembling the facilities of the festival. Typical activities during the festival include cleaning the area and helping with the differentiate waste collection, however the past years volunteers have been involved in a number of different activities, according to the festival needs. Please note that flexibility and adaptability are required, and there might be some heavy work involved from time to time. The festival volunteers are lovely people they enjoy helping and don't mind working under the sun. Hopefully international volunteers will be wonderful members of this team! International volunteers will have 2 free days, to be arranged with the festival organisers.These 2 days will be chosen in the period between 28th and 30th May.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will work a couple of hours during the day and 4-5 hours during the festival opening hours. They will sleep in shared tents at the Festival area. Toilet and washing facilities will be available, camp beds will be provided but you must bring a sleeping bag and towels. Please make sure you are comfortable with basic camping conditions! Breakfast, lunch and dinner plus bottled drinking water will be provided by the organizer at the main festival restaurant. Any extra is at the volunteers' charge.
LOCATION: Chiuduno is a village located near Bergamo, in the north of Italy (Lombardy region).
TERMINAL: The nearest airport is Caravaggio International Airport - Bergamo. You may consider other airports in the area, such as Milan/Linate, Brescia and Milan/Malpensa. To reach Chiuduno you will need to reach Bergamo and from there catch a train with destination Brescia. The Chiuduno railway station is just about 500 metres from the festival area.

«Multimatograf: create the spirit of art» camp is a perfect opportunity to indulge oneself in the intercultural environment and take part in organizing one of the brightest events in the field of multimedia art in Russia.
The festival general idea is a freedom of art and self-realization. The same idea is carried out and in the very working process. Festival organizers are primarily inspired young people, successful specialists of their kind in the region. These are the people who do the festival not for money, but because they love it! That's why the initiative, original approach and aspiration for self-realization are the things that are valued most of all. The festival will be implemented in 7th time. Project: The workcamp will take place in the small Moravian village of Tvarozna Lhota, situated in the White Carpathian Mountains, near to the Slovakian border. The region is famous for its folk traditions and its beautiful countryside. In the middle of the village, the local NGO "INEX-SDA Bile Karpaty" runs a small centre for rural development and sustainability. It also has an outdoor museum with traditional cottages, some farm animals, a herb garden and traditional fruit trees, showing how rural live used to be in the past. Every year several public events take place there.
Work: The work will be manual. The volunteers will work in the outdoor museum, mainly repairing fences, making hay, cleaning, and weeding the herb garden. Besides, the volunteers will collect herbs from the surrounding meadows, which will then be used for the production of herbal teas. On April 14th a small festival of typical fruit products, "Oskeruše", will take place. The volunteers will help with the technical preparations of the event (i.e. installation of an exhibition, cleaning up afterwards) and are invited to attend the celebration.
Leisure time: Trips to the countryside and to folklore events, visits to touristic sights in the surrounding towns and villages will take place.
Study part: The volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about local products, local farming, the history and potential of the region.
Accommodation/Food: In a building in the very centre of the village. Volunteers will need to bring their own sleeping bags and sleeping mats. Two small bathrooms are available. Please be prepared for basic living conditions as the house is very small. Volunteers will prepare their meals together - a small kitchen is available in the living area. Bring your favourite recipes.

Ozkent Akbilek Vocational School trains mentaly disabled teenagers in order to prepare them for their future life. Apart from daily lessons there are ateliers like textile, handicarft, woodwork, drama, folk dances, nutrition, spor, drawing, computer. GENCTUR is looking for volunteers who will work together with the pupils who are slightly mentally disabled and have learning difficulties. W: Painting the garden wall and drawing pictures on it together with the disabled teenagers. Some restoration work in the school and its garden might be required. A: In the classrooms of the school. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Will be supplied in the school. R: Volunteers must be ready and willy to work with mentaly disabled teenagers. Smoking during the work with students and alcohol consuming will not be allowed during the whole camp. LA: English. LO: Ankara is the capital city of Turkey and located in central Anatolia.
